Talita Archibald

Talita Archibald

Talita Archibald is an experienced childhood educator with over 22 years teaching performance and drama to school aged children. Talita trained in Music Therapy at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and at Colorado State University, USA. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, she met her Kiwi soulmate while travelling in Scotland and in 2004 moved to Wellington. Now she lives with her husband, two young children and her beloved dog.

She brings the flamboyance and enthusiasm for music, dance and drama from her home in Argentina. She is passionate about developing the best of each child through singing, acting or dancing.

Trudy Dalziel

Trudy comes from a “theatrical” family and has been performing since the age of 5. On return from overseas, Trudy taught drama to children in Christchurch, before moving to Wellington where she has been actively involved in many productions, both on and offstage, mainly with Stagecraft Theatre for the past 10 years.

Trudy has a passion for all aspects of theatre and performance and loves the opportunity Musical Stars gives her to share this passion with the Musical Stars children. Trudy mixes the magic of imagination and story telling with technical skills to help give children the confidence to perform.

Trudy also enjoys writing scripts for children, some of which have been performed by Musical Stars children over the past couple of years.

Jo Hodgson

Jo Hodgson

Music completely fills Jo’s busy life. She is a mother of two and involved in a range of musical activities in the community, but is most often found singing with pre-schoolers in her ‘Moving 2 the Beat’ music classes.

Originally from Nelson, Jo holds Performance Certificates in Voice and Oboe and sings with several high profile choirs. In 2004 she toured NZ in the company of ‘Evita’, has appeared in several Wellington Musical Theatre productions like ‘Phantasmic’, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, Marshall Stack’s ‘Smokey Joes Cafe’, and was Grizabella in the 2008 production of Cats.

As vocal coach for Musical Stars, Jo enjoys inspiring and building confidence in the next generation of musical theatre performers.

Ana Van Elswijk

Ana was born and raised in Wanganui where at the age of 8 she started dancing at her local studio under Sharyn Underwood. She moved to Wellington in 2012 to study at Whitireia Performance Centre and now holds a degree in Commercial Dance.

Ana has been involved in a number of shows and productions and last year produced her first stage show. Ana loves the family atmosphere at Musical Stars and the unique combination of acting, singing and dancing that is offered.

Ana also loves the environment that Musical Stars has created to foster creativity and confidence in the students.

Ruth Armishaw

Ruth Armishaw is a chameleon of the Wellington music scene, a freelance musician as a performer for hire, a music teacher, and a creator of artistic works.

Her musical background spans the orchestral, choral, operatic, musical theatre, and jazz realms, with tertiary and post-graduate study in Vocal Jazz performance and a Performers Certificate in classical piano.

Ruth’s teaching experience spans 15 years (and over 5000 hours) from one-on-one to choir singing and piano lessons for children ages 5-18.

As a past member of the Hutt Operatic, Wellington Junior Symphony Orchestra, Wellington Youth, NZ Secondary Students’, NZ Youth and Orhepus Choirs, Wellington Musical Theatre, and current member of the NBR NZ Opera Chapman Tripp Chorus (13 years), she has a vast and varied performance experience.

She has been involved in several NZ Fringe festivals as performer, musical director, composer and producer, and in 2012 debuted her first musical theatre piece, Have Voice; Will Sing. Ruth is a regular chorus member for operas and choral works in the NZ International Arts Festivals and more often, you can find Ruth playing and singing jazz in restaurants around the city. For 4 years she was involved with the Childrens’ ArtSplash festival as assistant musical director, following 3 years with the ArtSplash stage band.

Nancy Ruck

Musical Stars has been a part of Nancy’s life since she was four years old. For nine years she was given the opportunity to perform on stage in musicals like Into the Woods, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and many other original stage shows. 

Nancy is thrilled to be back working at Musical Stars, helping to give children as great an experience as she had.
